Stock Sentiment Analysis

This tool was built by combining Web Scrapping, Natural Language Processing and Stock Market APIs. It can analyze the NYSE-traded stock symbols most discussed in social media the past week, and analyze people's comments to determine whether the overall sentiment is positive/neutral/negative.

Open Source Projects

I've developed a couple of components to expand the existing elements of the Streamlit framework. These components use a Python backend and a React frontend, and are packaged and distribuited through pypi.

streamlit_datalist

This component brings HTML's datalists to Streamlit, while keeping the native look of Streamlit's selectbox components. Package available here.

streamlit_scrollable_textbox

This component enables users to define scrollable textboxes within Streamlit, allowing them to display large chunks of text while keeping a desired app layout. Package available here.

Professional Experience

Working on software development since Nov. 2021. Responsible for frontend and backend development of an internal web application used by 50+ people at a world-renowned company. Backend built with Python + SQL, frontend built using a Python library (Streamlit) + custom HTML/CSS. Lead efforts to adopt a Gitflow workflow, responsible for maintaining project repository. Currently developing automated tests using Selenium framework.

Academic Work

Master Thesis focused on analysis of composite materials by way of virtual experiments. Machine learning models (Neural Networks) where used to enable the study of behaviours almost impossible to replicate under laboratoty conditions. Optimization algorithms were used to fine-tune parameters for our needs. Matlab and Python code was developed to deal with ML models, virtual experimentation and handling extensive amounts of data.

About me

Started coding occasionally in different languages since I was in highschool, really started getting serious about it on 2020. Working full-time as a software developer/data scientist since 2021.

I enjoy thinking about the logic and flow of a program when coding. Love the feeling of using a piece of software I wrote. Constantly trying to increase my knowledge and improve my skills.

I have a Master in Mechanical Engineering and Project Management from the Technical University of Hamburg Harburg, Germany, where I was introduced to different machine learning frameworks.
